LISBON, Maine — A firefighter was injured battling a blaze at a home in Lisbon Monday morning.
The fire broke out at a Main Street residence around 8:45 a.m. and crews encountered "heavy fire coming from the first floor" of the two-and-a-half-story residence, according to Lisbon Fire Chief Nathan LeClair.
The firefighter who was injured was taken to Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick with minor injuries and released, according to LeClair.
A family of three who evacuated the residence was displaced and the Red Cross was assisting them with shelter. The cause of the fire was believed to be accidental, LeClair said.
While firefighters were at the scene, another fire broke out in town at a residence on Bisbee Street at about 10:50 a.m. The fire appeared to have started in a garage and extended to the residence, according to LeClair.
"Crews were able to keep the fire contained mostly to the exterior of the home with some extension into the roof of the residence," LeClair said in a release.
The cause of the Bisbee Street fire was also believed to be accidental, according to LeClair.
Firefighters from Durham, Sabattus, Lewiston, Topsham, Brunswick, Bowdoinham, Richmond, Freeport, and Yarmouth helped Lisbon firefighters battle the fires.
