LINCOLN, Maine — Mattanawcook Junior High School in Lincoln was evacuated Monday afternoon following a "potential threat."

School officials posted on social media around 1:30 p.m. Monday, stating all staff and students were safe and had been evacuated to the Mattanawcook Academy gymnasium per safety protocol.

Mattanawcook Junior High School is located at 45 School St. and Mattanawcook Academy is located at 33 Reed Dr.

All students were said to be released at their regular dismissal time from Mattanawcook Academy, but officials said parents could pick up their children before dismissal, with assistance from staff at the gymnasium, according to the post.

"The district takes all threats seriously and we are working with local law enforcement to investigate this threat.
