LEWISTON, Maine — A body was found Friday afternoon in Lewiston, but police said the death is not considered suspicious at this point in the investigation.
Lewiston police confirmed with NEWS CENTER Maine that a body was found in a wooded area near the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Bridge in Lewiston at about 4:30 p.m. Friday.
The bridge passes over the Androscoggin River and Boxer Island, connecting Lewiston and Auburn.
Lt. Derrick St. Laurent said the death was not being considered suspicious at this point in the investigation, but the department was waiting on toxicology and other reports from the state medical examiner's office for confirmation.
No information about the identity of the individual whose body was found has been released or details about the nature of the discovery.
