FALMOUTH, Maine — An investigation is underway after a man's body was recovered Saturday.
The body was discovered along the bank of the Presumpscot River in Falmouth.
According to Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss, the Falmouth Police Department had responded to the Presumpscot River adjacent to Walton Park around 11:49 a.m. on Saturday, for a report of a "suspicious object."
It was determined to be the body of a deceased adult male, Moss said. The Maine State Police Crimes Unit South responded to the scene to investigate.
The deceased was then transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy. The identity of the deceased and cause of death is still pending, Moss said.
There is no known danger to the public.
