Rockland Hannaford issues recall on cubed beef steak

The supermarket chain said Friday the products sold on Dec. 14 may contain "foreign material."

ROCKLAND, Maine — The Hannaford store in Rockland has recalled cubed beef steak that was sold on Dec. 14, the supermarket chain said in a news release Friday.

"Out of an abundance of caution, the Hannaford store at 75 Maverick Street in Rockland is recalling Hannaford brand cubed beef steak purchased at the store on Thursday, December 14 with a sell-by date of December 18 because the item(s) may contain foreign material," the release stated.

The company advises those who purchased the product on that day to check their storage and freezer areas and not eat the product.

According to the release, customers may return the product or its packaging to the store for a full refund.

"This is a single-store advisory and applies to the Rockland store only. No injuries or illnesses have been reported," Hannaford said.
