FARMINGTON, Maine — Update: Frank Van Soeren was safely located by police Saturday night, according to a release from the Maine Department of Public Safety.
Original story: A Silver Alert was issued Friday for 67-year-old Frank Van Soeren of Ontario, Canada. Van Soeren was reported missing out of Rangeley Plantation after he attended his brother's funeral in Farmington.
Officials with the Franklin County Sheriff's Office confirmed with NEWS CENTER Maine that Frank Van Soeren was the brother of 76-year-old Ernest Van Soeren, who died earlier this month after also being reported missing.
Ernest Van Soeren's body was found Nov. 6, the same day he was reported missing, by a Maine game warden in Rangeley Lake, roughly a quarter-mile from his home in Rangeley Plantation.
Ernest Van Soeren reportedly had Alzheimer's and may have been disoriented, officials said in a news release at the time. His death was not considered suspicious at the time.
Ernest Van Soeren's funeral was held Thursday in Farmington, which was the last day his brother was seen.
According to a news release from the Maine Department of Public Safety and information corroborated by the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, Frank Van Soeren was last seen with a family member at a Walmart in Farmington. The black 2013 Toyota Sienna minivan he and the family member were traveling in is also reportedly missing.
Frank Van Soeren, who was described by officials as having cognitive issues, officials said.
