TURNER, Maine — A fire that broke out at a duplex in the town of Turner is under investigation.
The fire broke out around 2:30 p.m. at a residence on County Road, according to Turner Fire Chief Nick Merry. Neither family that lived in the duplex was home at the time. Merry said one of the tenants pulled into the driveway, saw the building on fire, and called for help.
The dogs reportedly got out safely, and firefighters were able to rescue a cat and kittens from inside, according to Merry. The building was a total loss, he said.
Fire crews from Auburn, Buckfield, Leeds, Jay, Minot, and Livermore helped with the firefighting effort.
