GREENE, Maine — Several agencies responded to a forest fire on Route 202 in Greene Tuesday afternoon.
The burned about 5 acres before being contained by crews, according to Forest Ranger Specialist Kent Nelson.
There were no report of injuries, Nelson added.
A car fire was the source of the brush fire, according to Central Maine Power spokesperson Jon Breed. He shared a picture, and added that there was no structural damage to any electrical poles, and service was not impacted.
Three Maine Forest Rangers were on the ground to assist with extinguishing the fire on the ground. another forest ranger pilot dropped water on the fire with the Maine Forest Rangers' helicopter, Nelson said.
The fire threatened a nearby structure, but crews were able to stop the spread.
"The dry conditions made the fire spread rapidly up a hill," Nelson added.
