BIDDEFORD, Maine — Police are investigating a fatal shooting incident that happened Friday in Biddeford as a homicide.
Just before 11 p.m., the Biddeford Police Department took a report of shots fired on Foss Street, according to a news release from Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss.
First responders arrived to the scene and found an injured male who later died at the scene, Moss said. The male was identified as 46-year-old Gene Dares of Biddeford.
Following an autopsy, it was determined Dares' cause of death was from gunshot wounds and the manner of his death was homicide.
Moss said there is "no known specific threat to the public."
The incident remains under investigation by the Biddeford Police Department and the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit South.
