Second cannabis recall in Maine due to yeast and mold detection

Recalled cannabis flower, pre-rolls, and blunts produced by Nova Farms were sold at 14 adult-use retail stores in Maine between Sept. 17 and Oct. 8, 2024.

MAINE, USA — Just one month after the first cannabis recall in Maine, the Office of Cannabis Policy (Maine OCP) on Friday issued a second mandatory recall.

Select ground cannabis flower, pre-rolls, and blunts were recalled, all produced by Nova Farms. These products were sold at 14 adult retail stores across the state from Sept.17 to Oct. 8, according to Maine.gov.

The recall is part of an ongoing investigation by the Maine OCP.

Officials said the products were recalled due to the presence of microbial (aerobic bacteria and Enterobacteriaceae), yeast, and mold above the pass/fail threshold.

The first cannabis recall in Maine occurred in early September after a state audit. Cannabis Cured produced the products, which were sold in eight different stores across Maine from Aug. 27 through Sept. 9. The recall came after those products also failed mold and yeast testing.
