BUCKSPORT, Maine — A "safety concern" that led to the dismissal of Bucksport High School students and staff Wednesday morning has been deemed "not credible."

RSU 25 Superintendent Dr. Josh Tripp and Deputy Chief David Winchester of the Bucksport Police Department sent a news release out Wednesday stating students and staff were dismissed around 10:45 a.m.

"There was a safety concern this morning communicated to Bucksport High School (BHS) personnel," the release stated. "Due to that specified safety concern, RSU 25 Administration and Bucksport Public Safety assessed the situation and determined it was best to dismiss BHS Students and Staff for the remainder of the day."

According to an update from Tripp, "Upon working with Bucksport Police Department, the safety concern was deemed not credible and all RSU 25 schools will open tomorrow as normal."

Officials said they consider student safety a top priority, and Bucksport police are investigating the incident.
