Ellsworth Water Department issues boil water order

A boil water order is in effect for certain affected areas due to "the possibility of unsafe water," Ellsworth water officials said.

ELLSWORTH, Maine — The Ellsworth Water Department has issued a boil water order for certain affected areas due to "the possibility of unsafe water."

The order advises residents to boil all water for at least five minutes before drinking, making ice cubes, washing foods, brushing teeth, or any activity that involves the consumption of water, the water department said in a news release.

Residents on the following affected streets are advised to adhere to the order:

  • School Street (State Street to Main Street) 
  • Church Street (Oak Street to School Street) 
  • Park Street (School Street to Garden Street) 
  • Birch Avenue (State Street to Oak Street) 

The water department said any questions regarding the order can be directed to Superintendent Reggie Winslow at 207-667-8632 or to the Maine Drinking Water Program at 207-287-2070 during normal business hours.

The order will remain in effect under further notice, the release said.
