Berwick police share update on missing 12-year-old boy

Police said they believe this incident is not suspicious, and they are continuing to investigate the case and tips they receive about his welfare or whereabouts.

BERWICK, Maine — A 12-year-old boy from Berwick has been missing for more than a week, according to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children

The center is seeking the public's assistance in finding Chase Buckner, of Berwick, after he went missing from his home on June 10, the center said in a news release.

The Berwick Police Department said Thursday on Facebook it's aware of the case and investigating.

Police said Buckner was last seen by his mother between 3 and 5 p.m. June 9 after he returned home from running away on June 8.

"We have received several tips stemming from the media push by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and have followed up on those tips," the post stated. "Chase is believed to be in the area with his 17-year-old girlfriend. Chase was seen a few days ago, with his girlfriend, at another juvenile’s residence in a neighboring community."

Police said they believe this incident is not suspicious and that Buckner willingly ran away.

"This is not the first reported incident of this happening," police said. "This agency has taken six (6) reports since the beginning of May of Chase running away."

Buckner is described as 5-foot-7, weighs 117 pounds, and has brown eyes and brown hair. His clothing description is unknown at the time he ran away, police said.

The center said it is believed Buckner may stay in the Berwick area or travel to nearby cities in Maine or New Hampshire.

The center shared that Buckner's mom, Jennie Fall, is very concerned for his safety and hopes the following message reaches her son:

"Chase, if you are scared right now, know that I love you no matter what. Please come home and we will work through anything."

Buckner's missing poster is being featured on the Ring Neighbors app in an effort to locate him through a partnership between the center and Ring.

Those with information regarding Buckner's location are asked to contact the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children at 1-800-THE-LOST, or 1-800-843-5678. The Berwick Police Department may also be reached at 207-698-1136.
