Baldwin home a total loss after early morning fire

In total, 13 tankers moved water to the scene from a fill site on Pigeon Brook Road.

BALDWIN, Maine — A home in Baldwin was deemed a total loss following a fire early Tuesday morning.

Shortly after midnight Tuesday, Standish Fire-EMS crews responded to a structure fire in Baldwin, Standish Fire-EMS said in a social media post.

Crews arrived at the scene and found a two-story wood frame with a heavy fire visible from all sides, according to the post.

"Multiple lines were stretched and defensive operations were initiated until the bulk of the fire was knocked down and crews were able to enter the building to finish extinguishing," the post stated.

Because the fire was in a rural area, Standish Fire-EMS said a large tanker shuttle operation was required to supply enough water. In total, 13 tankers moved water to the scene from a fill site on Pigeon Brook Road, the post said. Twenty-two members of the department responded as well.

No injuries were reported, and the home was deemed a total loss.

Fire departments from Baldwin, Limington, Sebago, Cornish, Kezar Falls, Gorham, and Buxton assisted.
