Augusta Walmart evacuated due to bomb threat

The store was temporarily closed Wednesday evening but has since reopened, police said.

AUGUSTA, Maine — Police are investigating a terrorizing complaint after a bomb threat was discovered at a Walmart location in Augusta on Wednesday. 

The Augusta Police Department responded to Walmart, which is located on Civic Center Drive, at 6:30 p.m. for a terrorizing complaint where a threat was made through a message left at the store, according to a news release from the department. 

The store was evacuated and temporarily closed, but has since reopened. 

Augusta police are continuing to investigate the complaint and ask anyone with information to contact the Augusta Police Department at 207-626-2370 ext. 3418.

No further information was released.
