LIVERMORE, Maine — The Androscoggin County Sheriff's Office is investigating a deadly two-vehicle crash Monday in Livermore.
Deputies and multiple EMS agencies responded shortly after 2 p.m. Monday following a call about a two-vehicle crash on Route 108 (Canton Road) in Livermore near the intersection of Church Street, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.
Officials said details from the preliminary investigation appear to indicate that 31-year-old Joshua Charett of Rangely was traveling east on Canton Road in a green 2021 Jeep Wrangler when a red 2014 four-door Mercedes driven by 23-year-old Jared Sampson of Norway driving west on Canton Road apparently crossed the centerline and collided with Charett's vehicle in the eastbound lane, the release stated.
Charette and a juvenile in his vehicle were brought to Central Maine Medical Center following the crash. Sampson and two children who were in car seats in the back of the Mercedes were also brought to CMMC with "serious injuries," the release stated.
Officials said the front passenger in Sampson's vehicle, 20-year-old Harley Lausier, and a one-and-a-half-year-old girl who was in a car seat on the rear passenger side both died at the scene.
Canton Road between Route 4 and Church Street closed for about four hours while the crash scene was investigated at the scene, and the investigation is ongoing.
The Androscoggin County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Livermore, Livermore Falls, Turner, and Canton Fire Departments, NorthStar, Turner Rescue, Med Care and LifeFlight of Maine, as well as the Lewiston and Livermore Falls Police Departments, and the Oxford County Sheriff's Office.
