SCARBOROUGH, Maine — A vehicle crashed into the glass facade of a nail salon in Scarborough on Saturday, but no injuries were reported in the incident.
Police were called to Prime Nails and Spa on Gallery Boulevard after a driver who was pulling into a parking spot ended up crashing into the front of the building around 3:40 p.m.
The salon and five additional businesses in the complex were evacuated because of the crash, and all but the salon have since reopened, Scarborough Deputy Police Chief John Brennan told NEWS CENTER Maine.
A gas smell was initially reported, which prompted emergency officials to shut off gas to the complex, but it was turned back on after they investigated and found no cause for concern, Brennan said.
Police ruled the crash an accident.
The nail salon posted a picture of the crash on its Facebook page and said they would be closed until further notice.
"Sorry to everyone who had appointments booked today or in the future," it stated. "We will keep you updated on the store's status."
