Priest connected to Hampden homicide victim put on leave of absence

Rev. Anthony Cipolle has been placed on a leave of absence for "personal reasons." Cipolle may be a witness to the murder of Renee Clark this past July.

BANGOR (NEWS CENTER Maine) -- Rev. Anthony Cipolle will take a leave of absence from the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland, effective immediately, officials announced Monday.

Cipolle was involved in an "altercation" with Phillip Clark the night Renee Clark was murdered, according to investigators.

Phillip Clark is being held without bail at the Penobscot County Jail on chargers murder charges.

NEWS CENTER Maine reached out to Cipolle's lawyer, Charles Gilbert and the Penobscot County Judicial Center.
