PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Police in Presque Isle have issued a Silver Alert for a man who was last seen Friday.

Lyman Botting, 82, of Presque Isle, was reportedly last seen Friday morning at his home on Houlton Road, the police department said on social media.

Botting, who suffers from dementia, was reportedly last seen around 9 a.m. Friday at the intersection of Houlton and Spragueville Roads in Presque Isle, according to police.

"He seemed confused, believing he was living in a different decade," the Facebook post stated. "He is very familiar with the wooded area surrounding his last location."

Police said several agencies are searching the area with a tracking K-9 and advise the public to avoid the wooded area while the search ensues.

Botting was last seen wearing black and gray checkered pajama pants and a blue T-shirt with insignia that may look like stripes. His usual boots and jacket were left behind, police said. He is described as a 5-foot-6 white male who is 165 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes.

Police added that Botting is not believed to have left in a vehicle, and is originally from Mt. Chase, which may be a location he might try to go to.

Anyone who locates Botting or has information is asked to contact the Presque Isle Police Department at 207-764-4476.
