Truck crashes into downtown Portland building

Police responded to the area of Mister Bagel on Congress Street Monday night.

PORTLAND, Maine — Police are investigating after a vehicle crashed into a building in downtown Portland Monday night. 

A NEWS CENTER Maine photographer at the scene in front of Mr. Bagel located at 539 Congress St. confirms a single pickup truck appears to be involved in the crash. 

As of 5:15 p.m., police appeared to be interviewing the sole occupant of the truck. 

NEWS CENTER Maine spoke with the mother of the driver, who said her son was "OK" after the incident. 

The driver was charged with driving to endanger and was given a summons, Portland Police Department spokesperson Brad Nadeau told NEWS CENTER Maine. 

Nadeau added the driver does not face charges for impairment. 

Three buildings were reportedly damaged in the crash.
