ID=15681227PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A new song from country music superstar Tim McGraw is about Maine's largest city, but in it, he claims he doesn't know where Portland, Maine is.

In the song, "Portland, Maine," McGraw sings about a woman leaving him behind to go to Portland. It's a break up song, with Mcgraw lamenting that the relationship is going to have to end because he doesn't know where Portland is, and he doesn't want to.

But Mcgraw must know where Portland is. He came to Portland in 1998 to play a show at the Cumberland County Civic Center, and he had to drive through the city to play a show in Bangor back in May. Matty Jeff from WPOR interviewed McGraw before that concert. He says McGraw didn't rule out the idea of shooting a music video for the song in Portland.

"That's one thing I did ask him, when he told me about the song," Jeff told NEWS CENTER. "I said, 'Hey, are you going to record a video here in Portland, Maine?' He said, 'Yeah the song's about Portland, now we might have to do that!' So it could happen."

The Portland Area Convention and Visitors Bureau isn't taking the message of the song to heart. They are planning a social media campaign to generate buzz about the song and about Portland.

Listen to Tim McGraw's new song Portland, Maine and check out the lyrics below:

I don't want to be talking on the phone every night

Six PM, which timezone, yours or mine?

Ain't gonna worry where you are, who you're with

Let's just agree, this is it

Portland, Maine, I don't know where that is

Leave your bags in the car, keep it running

I won't pretend, I don't want these things

But Portland, Maine, I don't know where that is

I don't want to know, I don't want to know

See I'm just saving us some trouble somewhere down the line

This kind of town you just leave behind

And you don't know it yet, but you won't come back

I ain't going nowhere and you know that

Portland, Maine, I don't know where that is

Leave your bags in the car, keep it running

I won't pretend, I don't want these things

But Portland, Maine, I don't know where that is

And you can go ahead and hate me, that's just fine

It doesn't matter either way, I'm right

Portland, Maine, I don't know where that is

Leave your bags in the car, keep it running

I won't pretend, I don't want these things

But Portland, Maine, I don't know where that is

Portland, Maine, I don't know where that is

I don't want to know, I don't want to know

I don't want to know

Portland, Maine, I don't know where that is
