PORTLAND, Maine — Portland police are asking the public to be on the lookout for a man who was last heard from in late February.

Police said on Facebook that 40-year-old William "Billy" Haskell has not had direct contact with his family since Feb. 29.

"According to his cousin this is unlike Billy, as he always communicates with family every few days via phone," the social media post said.

According to police, Haskell's phone was reportedly "destroyed" on Feb. 29, there is no other known phone number that he would use, and his family is concerned he hasn't made any attempts to contact them since that day.

Haskell is known to "couch surf" at Franklin Towers and hang out around transient camps within Portland, police added.

Police ask anyone who may have information regarding Haskell's location to contact Det. Shinay at 207-874-8595.
