PORTLAND, Maine — Several Portland police officers armed with long guns responded to a reported fight between two groups at a convenience store Tuesday afternoon.
No shots were fired and no injuries were reported at the Cumberland Farms off Brighton Avenue, near Brighton Corner, Interim Assistant Chief of Police Robert Martin said.
The incident happened around 3:20 p.m.
Brad Nadeau, spokesperson for the Portland Police Department, confirmed the officers were responding to reports of a fight between two groups of individuals on Brighton Avenue.
Both groups were threatening to use firearms, but no guns were used, according to Nadeau.
One of the vehicles involved in the fight was pulled over by officers at Cumberland Farms, Nadeau said. Members of the Portland Police Department's weapons and tactics team were training nearby and helped with the traffic stop, according to Nadeau.
Nadeau said no arrests have been made and the investigation into what led to the incident is ongoing.
