PORTLAND, Maine — The Portland health department's longtime director has tendered her resignation.
Kristen Dow currently serves as director for the city's health and human services department and has worked with the city for nearly 18 years.
According to reporting from the Portland Press Herald, Dow has served as director since June of 2019.
Portland city spokesperson Jessica Grondin confirmed Dow's departure in an email to NEWS CENTER Maine.
Dow resigned Oct. 30, and her last day on the job will be Dec. 1.
Grondin said Dow will be taking "an opportunity with a national firm working with states across the country on health and human services policies and issues."
The name of the firm and the position were not released.
In a statement, Dow said she is "excited for this next chapter" in her career.
