Emergency crews in Portland responded Wednesday to a call about a possible boat fire in Casco Bay.

NEWS CENTER Maine received drone footage from a viewer submitted through Near ME on Wednesday of what appeared to be a fishing vessel with visible smoke being towed by tugboats.

A Portland dispatcher confirmed around 2:30 p.m. that the boat was brought into Portland Harbor and is being handled by the Portland Fire Department.

Around 4 p.m., Division Fire Chief of Portland Sean Donaghue said the fire was under control.

"Boat fires are really challenging. If you put too much water on it, you will sink the boat. It's a very different kind of firefighting."
