PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- House Speaker Mark Eves accuses Governor LePage of blackmailing Eves' new employer to get him fired.
Eves learned yesterday that the board of Directors at Good Will-Hinckley decided to fire him as the organization's new president.
For these hot button political issues, we like to turn to our political analysts Phil Harriman and Ethan Strimling for their take on the situation with the Governor and Speaker Eves...
Watch the video above for the full interview.
Phil: There's always two sides to this story -- pressure will be on the governor to neutralize or dispute what's being reported by speaker eves. This is a legal issue relevant to the governor's ability to use his discretionary funds as purpose to funds appropriated by the legislature.
Ethan: This is very disappointing turn of events. Obviously we need to get more of the facts in order to understand what happened. But if it turns out the governor threatened to withdraw money because of Eve's job; that's a seriously allegation that could end up in the courts and a much deeper investigation.
