PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER Maine) -- Many Mainers woke up to heavy wet snow Sunday morning forcing them to snow blow, shovel and sand. Plows were out early on the streets, but with the warming during the day, some of the snow continued to fall from trees and power lines.
One group of brothers-in-law were up early moving furniture into a home on Brackett Street.
“We had this truck parked over on Vaughan Street and figured we might as well get it over here," said Ryan McNulty from Portland. "I wanted to get out before the snow settled down.”
When asked if it was hard to get the truck out of the snow Michael Rama, from Vermont said it was pretty easy.
"It was kind of like curling," said Rama. "You send it in and you have two cleaners to finish the job for you (laughs).”
The three men said they were able to shovel and move in the snow with no problem, while their wives greeted them with fresh coffee.
For others trying to dig their vehicles out, the City of Portland tweeted that there is no parking ban, but try to help the plows by parking as close to the curb as possible.
No parking ban - so we need your help! All downtown parkers: if possible, please move your vehicles off-street. If not, please try to park your car as close to the curb as you can so the crews can clear as much snow as possible. Thank you! pic.twitter.com/FDdVPRk3W6
