Police recover body of West Bath man missing for nearly six months

A man who lives nearby found Berrett's body in a wooded area about one mile from Berrett's home in West Bath near Hill Road.
Edward "Ted" Berret has not been seen since Friday, Nov. 17, 2017 in West Bath. He was last seen near his home with no shirt.

WEST BATH (NEWS CENTER Maine) -- The Sagadahoc County Sheriff's Office and Maine Warden Service recovered a man's body from a wooded area in West Bath on Saturday morning that they believe is a man who went missing in November of 2017.

Police say 70-year-old Edward (Ted) Berrett was reported missing from his West Bath home on November 19, 2017. He was the focus of a large-scale search over the next several days by multiple law enforcement agencies and search organizations.

A man who lives nearby found Berrett's body in a wooded area about one mile from Berrett's home in West Bath near Hill Road.

Police say there is no evidence of foul play, but are still waiting to confirm Mr. Berrett's identity at an autopsy at the Medical Examiner's office in Augusta.
