PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Police are investigating a shooting after a handgun discharged during an altercation in the Old Port early Saturday morning, injuring one.
Just after 1 a.m., police say two men were involved when one of them displayed a handgun. A struggle ensued and the gun discharged, injuring another man who was standing nearby.
The suspect fled the scene and was last seen running toward Fore Street. Police say he's described as a white male, 5'7"- 6', thin build and was wearing a gray t-shirt and red jacket.
The bystander was treated and released from Mercy Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
