Two horses dead after struck by vehicle in Gorham

The crash happened at the intersection of Gray Road and Queen Street Friday night.

GORHAM, Maine — Two horses have died after a single-vehicle crash in Gorham Friday night. 

According to Cumberland County dispatch, the crash happened at the intersection of Gray Road and Queen Street at approximately 7:08 p.m. A caller reported the crash involved a single vehicle and two horses, dispatch said. 

No one inside the vehicle was reportedly injured. 

An officer with the Gorham Police Department told NEWS CENTER Maine both horses got loose from a local pasture. It was dark outside at the time of the crash, and both horses were dark-colored, police said. 

One horse was reportedly dead by the time crews arrived, and the other was euthanized at the scene at the request of the owner. 

Gorham police responded to the scene.
