Police identify Porter man, 54, in fatal New Hampshire crash

Conway police responded to the crash involving a tractor-trailer and pickup truck just before 4 p.m. on Friday.

CONWAY, New Hampshire — Police in New Hampshire have identified a man who was killed in a fiery crash in Conway on Friday as a 54-year-old man from Porter, Maine. 

Conway police responded to a reported crash on East Main Street just before 4 p.m. on Friday involving a 2022 Peterbilt tractor-trailer and a 2002 Ford F150 pickup truck, according to a news release from the New Hampshire Department of Safety

An investigation revealed the tractor-trailer was headed eastbound when it crossed the center line and struck the pickup truck headed westbound, the release stated. Both vehicles caught fire following the crash. 

The pickup truck driver was identified as 54-year-old Steven Hawkes of Porter, Maine. Hawkes died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash, the release stated. 

Andrew Ouellette, 35, was identified as the tractor-trailer driver, and was treated for minor injuries at Memorial Hospital. 

The New Hampshire State Police Troop E and G Barracks, New Hampshire State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit, Conway Fire Department, and Crowell's Towing assisted at the scene.
