BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The Penobscot Job Corps held its graduation ceremony Friday.
The federal education program is run through the U.S. Department of Labor. It's a volunteer program that helps low income children learn the skills needed to succeed in a career or continue their education.
It serves around 50,000 people from ages 16 to 24 every year. Gov. Paul LePage was the featured speaker at the ceremony. He encouraged students to keep moving forward and to not let anything hold them back. He also told graduates everyone has the opportunity to achieve the American dream. The governor declined to take any questions from the press after his speech.
