Palmyra Walmart on lockdown

PALMYRA, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - - The Maine Department of Public Safety confirmed that Palmyra Wal-Mart has been locked down as State Police deal with an emergency.

Stephen McCausland, the department's spokesperson said a man inside a vehicle in the parking lot. Rt 2 has caused the shut down in front of the store.

Witnesses report heavy police presence at the Palmyra Walmart.

McCausland said a Motel next door has been evacuated. The incident is confined to the vehicle. No one has been injured

The Portland Press Herald is reporting that a Walmart employee confirmed that the store is on lockdown but the management team is too busy to comment.

According to the Morning Sentinel: Police were responding late Friday morning to a report of a suicidal person with a gun in the Palmyra Wal-Mart parking lot, forcing the store to be locked down, according to emergency dispatch reports.

A Wal-Mart employee confirmed at 11 a.m. the store was locked down, but said the managers were too busy to provide more details.
