Fire department in Oxford County temporarily relocates due to flooding

The Mexico Fire Department says it has moved to the Medcare building for the time being.

MEXICO, Maine — The Mexico Fire Department has temporarily moved to a new location due to flooding. 

The department said it has temporarily relocated to the Medcare building, according to a Facebook post made Friday night.

"We are in the process of handling this situation with our insurance, Servpro, multiple contractors, the Town of Mexico, and FEMA," the department said in the post. 

Those seeking emergency services are advised to call 911, and the department says it will respond as usual. For non-emergency services, calls can reportedly still be left on the department's answering machine. 

The relocation comes as multiple communities across the state are still cleaning up after a storm that claimed the lives of four Mainers less than two weeks ago.
