Drive Fore Kids celebrity golf tournament makes statewide economic impact

"The 2023 tournament projected the economic impact was just over $6 million," the executive director of Drive Fore Kids said.

FALMOUTH, Maine — Lots of former athletes New England fans will recognize will be in Falmouth this weekend for the second annual Drive Fore Kids celebrity golf tournament.

The tournament's goal this year is to raise $200,000 for two very worthy beneficiaries. 

"Last year we actually had 11,800 fans. That's the floor, we hope to have over 12,000 fans come out to the 2024 Drive Fore Kids," Executive Director of the tournament Brian Corcoran said. 

The three-day tournament is said to have a huge annual economic impact.

"The 2023 tournament projected the economic impact was just over six million dollars. Certainly here in Falmouth, the Greater Portland area, hotels, restaurant, retail operations, all felt the impact state wide across the state of Maine," Corcoran said. 

This year, celebrities are playing with hopes to raise funds for both the MaineHealth Barbara Bush Children's Hospital and the Dempsey Center. Country music singer Chris Lane is performing Friday night with Maine natives 12/OC.

"When I learned everything about what we were going to be doing—two of my favorite things, country music and golf—and putting those two together to help out families and kids, I couldn't think of a better way to do it," Lane said. 

Ticket sales for both his concert and the tournament are still available for purchase online here.

"We have a goal to each of those charities to raise $100K or $200[K]-plus combined to both of those beneficiaries," Corcoran said. 

They will be teeing up all for a good cause for this weekend at Falmouth Country Club.
