Doing Good Together at the 16th Annual Dempsey Challenge

This annual event helps support people diagnosed with cancer and their loved ones.

LEWISTON, Maine — Buckle up for the 16th annual Dempsey Challenge in Lewiston!

Rally together for the event on Saturday, Sept. 21, and come out to support those affected by cancer.

Participants can choose from a multitude of events ranging from a 5K run/walk, a 10, 25, 50, or 65-mile metric century cycling event, or the 25-mile event that will challenge participants to run 4.5 miles and ride 21.5 miles to the finish line at the festival in the park. Registration ends on Thursday, Sept. 19, but donations are still open for the event to help support people fighting cancer.

Come say hi to Brian Yocono and Donovan Lynch from 8:30AM - 12PM and Aaron Myler and Leeann Stapleton from 12 - 3PM. We'll have stickers, bracelets, and magnets to give away during the event!

The event will also take place virtually in conjunction with the in-person event on Sept. 21.

For 16 years now, every September, runners, walkers, bikers, and those whose lives have been impacted by cancer in some way come together in Lewiston to do good together on this one, powerful day—bringing together loved ones and celebrating years of providing comfort and compassion to cancer patients, families, survivors, and many more.

Founded by actor and philanthropist Patrick Dempsey, the Dempsey Challenge event has raised over $18 million for the Dempsey Center since its creation in 2009, with 100% of all proceeds raised going directly to client care and support.

The Dempsey Center raised a record $1.6 million in 2022, with participants and volunteers alike moved by the awe-inspiring support of everyone coming together for a great cause.
