HERMON, Maine — One person is injured following a three-vehicle crash involving a school bus Thursday morning in Hermon.

At about 11:20 a.m., the Penobscot Regional Communications Center received a report about a three-vehicle crash involving a school bus, lumber delivery truck, and tractor-trailer that was hauling fuel.

The crash reportedly happened at the intersection of Coldbrook and Odlin roads in Hermon, the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office said in a social media post.

Upon arriving at the scene, deputies discovered the lumber truck and tractor-trailer stopped at the traffic light on Coldbrook Road facing Hermon Village, according to the post on Facebook.

Deputies said the school bus had turned left from Odlin Road onto Coldbrook Road and lost control, causing it to strike the lumber truck, pushing it into the tractor-trailer.

"The bus driver became distracted when his seatbelt unhooked allowing him to fall out of his seat and down the bus stairs," the post stated. "The bus crashed into the side of the lumber truck forcing it into the tractor-trailer."

According to deputies, the bus driver was treated for minor injuries. No students or passengers were on the bus at the time of the crash.

The drivers of the two other vehicles involved were not injured, deputies added.

"The bus had to be towed from the scene with substantial damage to the front end," the sheriff's office said. "The lumber truck and tractor-trailer both received damage as well but were driven away from the scene. None of the vehicles involved lost materials."

As a result of the crash, traffic was delayed for a short amount of time.

The Hermon Fire Department and Hampden Ambulance assisted.
