SHAPLEIGH, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- According to the York County Sheriff's office a body has been recovered from the bottom of Square Pond near Treasure Island in the town of Shapleigh.
Officials say the man appears to be around 60 years old.
Preliminary reports show that the man either rented or owned a cottage on Treasure Island and had disappeared the previous evening. Family members looked for him but were unable to locate him, officials report.
The name of man has not been released until his family have been notified. The body has been transported to the Medical Examiner's Office in Augusta to determine the specific cause of death.
