NORRIDGEWOCK, Maine — A 24-year-old Skowhegan man shot early Friday morning by a sheriff's deputy was in surgery Friday afternoon at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.
Somerset County Sheriff' Dale Lancaster said Deputy Michael Lyman shot Trever A. Caouette during what Lancaster said was an armed confrontation amid the investigation of a crash on Rte. 2, about a half-mile from the scene of the shooting.
Lyman is on administrative leave with pay pending an investigation of the shooting, which took place at about 1:45 a.m. on Mechanic Street.
The Office of the Maine Attorney General is investigating.
