YORK (NEWS CENTER Maine) - Management at York's Wild Kingdom is warning customers of counterfeit tickets being sold.
The amusement park and zoo posted on Facebook Wednesday warning customers of red paper tickets being sold for $10 a piece. The post warns these tickets are fake and will not be accepted at the park.
The Facebook post has been shared more than 4,000 times.
Typical tickets at the park cost around $24 per adult and around $18 per child. These fake tickets are being sold for $10.
The zoo opened for the 2018 season on Saturday, May 26. General Manager Amy Wheeler says staff started noticing the fake tickets as early as Monday.
She says one person -- a suspect in Pittsfield, New Hampshire -- is photocopying old tickets and selling them to customers in multiple states. Pittsfield Police are investigating.
If you believe you might have a counterfeit ticket, the zoo asks that you call (207) 363-4911 ext. 102. If you know you have counterfeit tickets, they ask you report it to Pittsfield Police by calling (603) 435-7535.
