(NEWS CENTER Maine)-- Jacob Thompson passed away on November 19th, 2017. The 9-year old boy from Saco had been battling neuroblastoma since he was 5 years old. As Jacob's condition worsened, his wish was to have one last Christmas. That wish and his story traveled literally around the globe. Hundreds of thousands of cards and messages, tens of thousands of presents, started showing up from across the world. Celebrities, 'regular' people, all wanted to be a part of this little boys last magical Christmas.
One year later, his family has found great strength from the outpouring of love and support it's received not only during Jacob's final days, but in the weeks and months since. To say Jacob loved penguins may be a bit of an understatement. One characteristic of penguins is that they travel in large groups so they are always surrounded by others who will help to take of them and love them. Jacob's motto was 'live like a penguin' and that saying has helped provide strength to his family in the days since his death.
