(NEWS CENTER Maine)-- Just days ago, Goodall Park in Sanford was the sight of a tremendously scary incident. One that had adults and children running for their safety. On Wednesday night the screams of terror will turn into cheering as the Sanford Mainers open up their summer season.
The team is managed by Chris Morris who is from Hampden and the roster has a Mainer as well, pitcher Ryan Twitchell from Greely High School.
"I can't even imagine what I would have done. For the little kids, for that to happen, not knowing what to do, must have been scary for them" said Twitchell.
"It really does hit home when something like this happens on a baseball field.. and you look at yourself and say how many games have I coached here? And how many games some kids have played here." said Morris.
The Mainers announced that for the home opener, any child that shows up wearing their youth baseball uniform will get into the game for free. Wednesday's game is scheduled to start at 630pm.
