(NEWS CENTER Maine)-- The Maine Children's Home for Little Wanderers in Waterville has been running it's Christmas Program since the 1960's. The program provides Christmas packages for families in need. This year the home is expecting to provide for just under 1900 children. The application process begins in early November and usually gets capped shortly thereafter as the need is great. Not just for help, but for people willing to donate.
"There have been some moments where we have really worried whether we are going to be able to get this done or not" said Cristen Sawyer a Development Associate.
Kelly Couture is the Development Coordinator for the Maine Children's home, and when she was 10 years old, was on the receiving end of a Christmas package.
"What it meant for me personally when I received mine, was that I didn't know that there were strangers out there that cared about me. I didn't know that. So I was thankful."
