KENNEBUNK (NEWS CENTER Maine) -- Another snow day typically draws excitement from kids who get the day off from school, but when snow is falling in March, not every student is excited.
"It's just cold and annoying," said middle school student Richard Day.
"I'd rather have spring," said Miranda Godek, another middle school student. "A snow day tomorrow means we more days of school in the summer."
But some of their friends, skating with them at the ice rink in downtown Kennebunk, say they savor the snow.
"I just love snow because it feels all magical and you get to warm up by the fireplace," McKenna Castle.
Despite forecasts for up to 18 inches of snow in some places, people lined up at neighborhood favorite Red's Dairy Freeze for its opening day.
"You always need ice cream, even the day before I have to shovel 18 inches of snow," said one mother who brought her kids.
"We're doing this in anticipation of summer," said Kayla Snow (winner of most ironic name).
Many school districts across the state canceled school for Thursday on Wednesday night: a practice that the Lewiston superintendent said is uncommon for him.
