NEW SHARON, Maine — Update

In an update on social media Tuesday, the New Sharon Board of Selectmen said the boil water order has been lifted.

Original Story

Due to the possibility of unsafe water, a boil water order has been issued for the New Sharon Water District.

All customers are directed to boil all water for one minute at a rolling boil before drinking, making ice cubes, washing foods, brushing teeth, or any other activity involving the consumption of water, the order stated.

The order was issued Monday and is in effect until further notice, the town said in a social media post.

Private wells are not affected. The order applies to New Sharon Water District customers only, according to the town.

The town said anyone with questions should contact Jason Pushard at 207-837-8493.
