New Hampshire motorcyclist killed in Bethel crash

A 43-year-old man from Alabama who was driving a Toyota Prius was arrested and charged with OUI resulting in death and manslaughter, according to a news release.

BETHEL, Maine — A motorcyclist from New Hampshire was killed in a crash in Bethel Saturday evening after a car pulled out in front of him, according to the Oxford County Sheriff's Office

Oxford County sheriff's deputies, Bethel Rescue and Fire Departments, and the Greenwood Fire Department responded to the area of Walkers Mill Road for a fatal crash involving a 2014 Honda CTX 700 motorcycle and a 2014 Toyota Prius around 5 p.m., the sheriff's department said in a news release. 

An initial investigation revealed the motorcycle was traveling northbound on Walkers Mill Road when the Prius pulled out of a driveway and into the motorcycle's path, resulting in the crash. The motorcyclist was reportedly killed in the crash. 

The sheriff's office identified the motorcyclist as 61-year-old David Roy of Berlin, New Hampshire. He did not have any passengers, according to the sheriff's office. 

The driver of the Toyota Prius was identified as 43-year-old Arin Palmer of Hoover, Alabama. He was uninjured in the crash and also did not have any passengers, the sheriff's office said. 

Palmer was reportedly arrested and charged with OUI resulting in death and manslaughter, then brought to the Oxford County Jail. 

The sheriff's office said the road will remain closed while officials continue to investigate.
