MINNEAPOLIS — There's no denying that drivers in Minnesota can count on the Department of Transportation's cameras and crews to watch them like a hawk.
This was especially true Tuesday morning, when MnDOT officials noticed a curious red-tailed hawk overlooking traffic on Interstate 94 and Portland Avenue in Minneapolis. The hawk was posed directly in front of a traffic camera and almost seemed to be enjoying its closeup.
According to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, the red-tailed hawk is found across the United States, south through Mexico and into Central America. While the DNR says some birds move south for the winter, some actually do stay in Minnesota year-round.
