Officials in southern Maine are searching for a man from Turner who has been reported missing.

The Androscoggin County Sheriff's Office said on Facebook Thursday it is seeking the public's help in locating 35-year-old Matthew Smith.

Smith is described as a 5-foot-10 white male who is 210 pounds. He has green eyes and brown hair, the sheriff's office said.

In an update on Saturday, the sheriff's office said deputies had located Smith's vehicle at Boston's Logan International Airport and "are aware that he purchased a one-way ticket out west."

Deputies would still like to make contact with Smith to verify his well-being.

"Although his behavior may seem out of character for him there is no evidence that he did this against his will," the sheriff's office said.

The Androscoggin County Sheriff's Office asks Smith to either call their office at 207-753-2599 or to contact his family.
