Marchese named first female criminal division chief

Veteran prosecutor Lisa Marchese is Maine's new Deputy Attorney General and the first woman to be Chief of the Criminal Division of the State Attorney General's Office.

(NEWS CENTER) -- Veteran prosecutor Lisa Marchese is Maine's new Deputy Attorney General and the first woman to be Chief of the Criminal Division of the State Attorney General's Office.

She succeeds Bill Stokes who is now a state superior court justice. Marchese joined the criminal division of the Attorney General's Office in 1986. She began prosecuting homicide cases in 1997. She has also led the Domestic Abuse Homicide Review Panel since 2001.

Marchese is from Bangor and attended the University of Maine and Franklin Pierce Law Center in New Hampshire.
