BURNHAM, Maine — An 18-year-old man has died following a single-vehicle crash Wednesday morning in Burnham.

Shortly before 5:15 a.m. Wednesday, a Maine state trooper notified the Waldo County Regional Communications Center about a single-vehicle crash on Winnecook Road.

Members of the Waldo County Sheriff's Office and Maine State Police responded to the scene to investigate, the sheriff's office said Thursday in a release.

An investigation revealed the crash involved a 2006 Saab 9-2X driven by 18-year-old Paul Raye Jr. of Detroit, Maine.

Deputies said Raye failed to navigate a curve in the roadway and as a result veered off the roadway and struck a large tree.
